This is a great entry level gravel/light touring bicycle. The 2×7 Shimano drivertrain functions well once properly adjusted. Ergonomics are comfortable and the controls work seamlessly out of the box. 
I recommend this bicycle to anyone who isn't able to purchase a high end name brand gravel bike.
 With proper maintenance this bike should last years without major repair and give me of adventure packed cycling ..Kudo on this one,Mongoose.

Great riding adventures with Grit by Mongoose

Very nice gravel bike for the money. Like any other big-box-store bike, it's going to need some tuning out of the box, but it's put together pretty well. I've put miles on it in different conditions, and it has performed quite well. I'm very happy with this bike!

Great gravel bike without putting you broke

Loved the bike but it got stolen. It was highly customized. Took it on 180 mile ride and it was great. It didn't need anything but it sure was fun to modify.

for the price this is a really good bike i love the shimmono tourney derailers easy to adjust the brakes that come with it arents the best but i wouldnt expect them to be in this price  range im 6'1 i i had to put a 100mm °8 up

Great Bike

Look, this is a decent bike. I have enjoyed our time together. I've done a bit of everything on it so far. Honestly, the whole "big box store" or "too heavy" narrative is tiring.  If your looking for an elite bike with elite parts...this isn't your stop. However, if you know enough about bikes, parts, upgrades, and bike companies that have been around a long time (Walmart is not a bike company, it just sells them)...as well as how to shop and care for them, this Mongoose can be a great addition. It is for me.

Honestly...

Surprisingly robust, higher-quality frame and design. Tires are adequate for smooth dirt or gravel but tend to wear out rather quickly on pavement. Entry-level components that will need some serious adjustments but work pretty well once dialed in, so to speak. Total weight is approximately 29-30 lbs, which is not too bad considering the low price. As a “upgrade” or project gravel bike this Mongoose can’t be beat, in my opinion. 

Don’t expect an outstanding machine for around five hundred bucks, naturally, but as a daily ride or commuter bike it’s pretty darn great! And the deep teal blue sparkle paint is really, really nice…

Pretty Darn Great Value When In Sale

At first, I was very hesitant about trying this bike (It's a Walmart bike for pete's sake!). But, with the ongoing bike shortages and all plaguing the market, I decided to take a chance...

I was not disappointed. 

First off, this bike comes "pre-assembled" with the only parts requiring direct installation being the front wheel, handlebars, seatpost, and pedals. 

If only it were that easy.

Since this bike comes straight from the factory, *a lot* of tweaking and finetuning is required to make it usable post-delivery. In fact, the stem was oriented the wrong way from the fork when I received the bike, so I had to loosen the stem and re-orient it myself. 
At that, I had to spend about 2 hours straightening the disc rotors as they arrived warped, resulting in them rubbing on the brake pads. 

But, I expected all of this due to it being a Walmart bike. 
To save yourself hassle, take this to a shop.


Assembly aside, the bike is put together *really well* for a department store product. This bike weighs somewhere around 30 lbs, but it really doesn't feel like it. I am a scrawny 115 lb sucker and can lift this entire bike with two fingers. This is impressive compared to the average, 40 lb bike you'd find from Walmart.
Onto specs..
-The bike is equipped with a *MicroShift* drivetrain, from rear derailleur (MicroShift 26C) to the brake/shifter combination (MicroShift 7 Speed integrated shifters). I've had little issue with these components post-adjustment (Just keep in mind that they're budget!)
-Unfortunately folks, the front derailleur is generic / no-name. But, it is indeed higher quality than a "Kazuno" front derailleur you'd find on a bike from Kent's "Genesis" bike lineup. 
-This bike is equipped with a SunRace "MegaDrive" Freewheel. 
But hear this out, I've noticed that the gearing is much more consistent than the typical freewheel you'd find on the average Walmart bike, so I'm in the process of finding if this is a Megarange or not (If so, good on Mongoose).
-The disc calipers are branded "Radius." - They're OK. They're not great, but they work once adjusted.
-The fork is steel from what I can tell, but it isn't super heavy.
-The tires on the bike are indeed Kenda Kick-Backs. I'm not sure if these are simply licensed or if they're the actual Kick-Backs from the old days, but the rolling resistance is quite low and these things can pick up solid speed. At that, they're impeccable on loose gravel

Honestly impressed. Bang for your buck certified.

I loved my bike

Front brakes need adjusting. Rear gear derailer needs adjustment. Handlebar instructions not clear.  Right brake lever still doesn't engage until you hit the handlebar. My first adult bike purchased sight unseen. Best to always test drive a bike before you purchase.

Easy to put together, but many adjustments

Donely thing I expected was it should've had a water bottle holder on the bike for the price that you pay it could not been more stingy and greedy with a water holder. It shows in the picture has a water holder and when you get the bike it doesn't happen so that's also force advertisement.
