This tent will fit 2 queen size for the tent. But it wont leave a lot of room to walk around.
If you have wee ones, 1 queen and 2 twin size would fit.

yes you can, we bought a bundle that came with 2 queen mattresses.

My opinion is that this is, at best, a 4 person tent. I suppose you could fit 6 but I don't see 8 people in this tent unless they were on the ground side by side. We had 2 queen mattresses for 2 of us and very little room for anything else. When the weather was rainy it was very claustrophobic. It looks bigger than it really is.

Each room can hold up to 1 queen air mattress. Definitely no more than that. We just got back from camping and we got both queens in the tent along with a oscillating fan and our two clothing bags. Cozy fit, but we were able to get around ok.

I set mine up with out the room devider and was able to set up both queen air mattresses and a twin air mattress running from one side to the other sidewith about a foot to maybe a foot and half space at end of air beds to stand and store clothing bags in. We slept 3 adults and 6 kids in the tent comfortably.

I used it w/ one queen air mattress in one room and two twin air mattress in the other room.

Yes, all of the mesh on this tent can be covered. The mesh roof is covered by the rainfly, the mesh windows and the door all have polyester backing that can be zipped closed, and the ground vent can be staked closed instead of staked open.

The top of the tent has 4 mesh/screen openings. Then the fly over the entire top, it does have an overhang to the fly. Never having been in the desert I have no way of knowing if dust/sand can get it. I know for sure rain can't get in. All the zippers completely meet so no sand from doors or windows. Get a tarp cut it up to cover the roof mesh then add the rain fly. That should work.

All the mesh (the top and the windows) all have rain guards and they are all very tight when covered!

All the windows and door has zip up covers. The whole top of the tent is mesh which you cover with the included cover.

the door opens on the curve. however, I would not recommend this tent. The roof joints have weak hinge pins and will fail after a few uses.
